Finding Joy in the Kitchen: Louise's Favourite Family Recipes

In today's fast-paced world, finding joy in the kitchen can be a challenge. We often find ourselves reaching for convenience foods or ordering takeout, sacrificing our health and well-being in the process. But it doesn't have to be that way. With a little inspiration and some simple recipes, you can create delicious and nutritious meals that will nourish your body and bring joy to your kitchen. As someone who has been self-employed for over 52 years and has a passion for eating whole foods, I have learned a thing or two about finding joy in the kitchen. Today, I want to share some of my tips that have become important in my healthy lifestyle. 1. Fresh and raw foods give you the most nutrients. Stick with the fruit and vegetables that are seasonal and local. That way you know they are the freshest you can get. 2. Once a week have one meal made in the slow cooker that will be ready to eat when you get home after a busy day at work. The left overs can be portioned for the freezer or taken to work the next day as lunch.

3. At the end of your week, take out all the left over vegetables in your frdige and roast them. Try this recipe: Roasted Vegetable Medley: Roasting vegetables brings out their natural sweetness and adds depth of flavor. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Chop a variety of vegetables like carrots, zucchini, capsicum, potatoes, pumpkin and onions into bite-sized pieces. Toss them with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and spread them out on a baking sheet. Sprinkle them with some fresh herbs or I love using the Masterfoods Tuscany Seasoning. Roast for about 20-25 minutes until they are tender and slightly caramelized. Serve as a side dish or add them to salads, wraps, or grain bowls. 4. Berry Smoothie Bowl: Start your day off right with a refreshing and nutritious smoothie bowl. In a blender, combine frozen berries, a banana, a handful of spinach, and your choice of liquid like almond milk or coconut water. Blend until smooth and pour into a bowl. Top with your favorite toppings like granola, sliced fruits, and a drizzle of honey. This bowl is not only delicious but also packed with antioxidants and vitamins. Finding joy in the kitchen is about more than just cooking. It's about nourishing your body, exploring new flavors, and embracing a healthy lifestyle. By incorporating these simple and delicious recipes into your routine, you can create meals that are not only good for you but also bring a sense of joy and fulfillment to your kitchen. So, grab your apron, turn on some music, and let's find joy in the kitchen together.
